Harnessing the power of Learning Management Systems (LMS) for Effective Online Education at IUM

What is LMS?

Learning Management System is defined as a software application used to plan , deliver and access learning. It can also be defined as a website that allows to write and publish different articles and posts to share the knowledge and information on the internet. It provides a centralised platform for managing educational content, tracking student progress, and facilitating communication between students and instructors.

Historical context of LMS at IUM

IUM first implemented it's Learning Management System in 2021 aiming to enhance the accessibility and delivery of educational content to it's students. IUM faced challenges during the Technical issues. implementing LMS at IUM System down time compatibility issues with existing system and addressing technical issues have been challenging. Training needs-faculty, staff and students required training to effectively use the LMS platform, there was also early benefits experienced such as improved course organisation and student engagement.

The implementation of LMS at IUM had a significant impact on online education, leading to improvement in teaching effectiveness and enhancing student learning experience LMS has provided faculty members with a platform to deliver course materials, assignments and assessment in a structured and organised manner.

The LMS has made educational resources accessible anytime, anywhere allowing students to engage with with course material at their own pace and convenience, who hade other commitment or pre for self-faced learning. IUM is continuously looking to enhance his learning management system to further  improve the online education experience for both faculty and students by recognizing the importance  of mobile learning, IUM planned to develop a dedicated  mobile app for the LMS introducing new tools for real-time communication, groupwork and peer feedback. IUM also planned to incorporate germination elements into the LMS.
